3D printed prototypes let you hold, test and fix a design for a few dollars before you spend thousands on moulds or machining. We print prototypes in PLA, PETG and TPU for New Zealand start-ups, students and engineers, with instant online quotes and NZ-wide delivery.
Prices from $5 with an instant online 3D printing quote, couriered NZ-wide.

What prototypes can be 3D printed?
Anything you need to check the size, look, fit or basic function of: product housings, mechanisms, ergonomic grips, mounting parts and display models.
- Product housings and casings
- Mechanisms, hinges and snap-fits
- Ergonomic handles and grips
- Fit-check parts for assemblies
- Pitch and display models
- Short runs for user testing
Which material is best for 3D printed prototypes?
PLA for looks-like prototypes and accurate fit checks, PETG for works-like prototypes that need to take knocks, heat or snap-fits, and TPU for soft-touch or flexible parts.
Compare PLA, PETG and TPU properties side by side, including heat, UV and flexibility.
How do I get prototypes made if I don't have a 3D file?
If you have an idea but no CAD, we'll design it with you. Each part gets a written specification and a fixed price, and you choose how many revision rounds to include. If you already have CAD, the free Design Health Check flags print problems before you order.
What makes 3D printed prototypes print well?
Design for the process you'll eventually manufacture with, but print to learn fast: change one thing per revision and print just the part you're testing.
- Print the critical section only when testing a fit.
- Keep wall thicknesses close to the final production design.
- Note the print orientation: strength varies with layer direction.
- Expect FDM accuracy of a few tenths of a millimetre.
How much do 3D printed prototypes cost in NZ?
Most small prototype parts cost $5–$60 to print, and the instant quote shows the exact price as soon as you upload an STL. Multi-colour prototypes are quoted individually.
What else do people ask about prototypes?
Here are the questions we hear most about 3D printed prototypes. Anything else, just ask.
How fast can I get a 3D printed prototype?
Most prints are dispatched within 3–4 days of payment and couriered NZ-wide. Auckland customers can pick up free from Mt Eden.
Can you help design the prototype?
Yes. Our CAD modelling and product design service turns sketches and ideas into print-ready parts, quoted per part before any work starts.
Is my prototype design kept confidential?
Yes. Your files are only used to quote and print your order. If you need an NDA before sharing a design, get in touch to discuss it first.
