What do people in Wellington get 3D printed?
Props, models and costume pieces for the creative and screen community, plus enclosures and test parts for the city's tech and research crowd, and plenty of fixes for older homes.
Wellington is a UNESCO City of Film, with a screen and creative cluster centred on Miramar. Wētā Workshop has its own in-house fabrication, but independent filmmakers, students, cosplayers and tabletop gamers often need single props, miniatures and costume parts printed quickly.
The city's government, university and software sectors also produce a steady stream of electronics projects and sensor housings that need a neat, custom enclosure.

Which 3D printing material suits Wellington?
Anything mounted outside in Wellington's wind should be PETG, which is tougher and less brittle than PLA. Use thicker walls and more infill for parts that take wind load, like sign brackets or garden fittings.
- PLA: rigid, precise, the widest colour range. Best indoors.
- PETG: tough, heat-tolerant to ~80 °C, good outdoors.
- TPU: flexible and grippy, for seals, bumpers and cases.
